Sadly pressures of time and ill-health prevented us from attending the concert given by the outstanding piano duo, Piano4Hands (Joseph Tong and Waka Hasegawa) at the remarkable Luton Music Club. Luton has had an outstanding name for many years for adventurous programme planning, under the remarkable leadership of Chris Thomas, and this continues under the aegis of Richard Sisson. The programme for this particular concert included two scenes from McCabe’s ballet Edward II, arranged for piano duet, and these were not only performed by the pianists, but also danced by a troupe of local young dancers – an intelligent and thoughtful idea of widening the audience for classical music. We are glad to hear that the whole concert was a great success!
