During the lifetime of Josef Haydn the piano underwent huge changes in design and playing techniques and Haydn's own writing for the instrument reflects these changes. This day school is given by John McCabe, whose monumental recordings of the complete Haydn piano music remain amongst the most authoritative interpretations available.
